Green Machine History
The Green Machine Jazz Ensemble was created in the Summer of 2005 by Alexander Spycher and Ryan Carlson, as they were entering their Senior year at Clackamas High School. Both being alto saxophone players, they searched for a rhythm section and found Kenneth MacDaniels on percussion, James Pham on guitar, James Larson on bass, and Scott Bradner on piano. Soon after, Ian Westerlund on baritone saxophone joined the band, which completed their seven-piece ensemble. After a month of rehearsing in the Clackamas High School band room, the band director, Mr. Jeffrey Betts, began referring the Green Machine to perform at various events. They became known as a sub-division of the Clackamas High School Band Department and played for grand openings of business and park dedications. |
